Introduction To Powder Compact Box Packaging Material Testing

Nov 20, 2025 Leave a message

As a key component of cosmetic packaging, the quality and safety of powder compacts directly affect the stability of the contents, their effectiveness, and consumer health. Professional testing services focus on the physical and mechanical properties, chemical safety, microbiological indicators, and functionality of powder compact packaging materials, aiming to comprehensively assess their compliance with national regulations and industry standards. Testing priorities include material composition analysis, heavy metal migration, sealing performance, durability, and microbial limits, ensuring product quality and safety during storage, transportation, and use, and providing manufacturers with objective and scientific quality control data.

Testing Items

1. Appearance and Dimension Inspection: Surface defects (such as scratches, bubbles, impurities, color difference), overall dimensions, component fit clearances, printing quality (registration accuracy, color, adhesion), etc.

2. Physical and Mechanical Performance Testing: Lid opening and closing fatigue, lens impact resistance, hinge durability, powder puff/brush fixing firmness, overall drop resistance, surface hardness, abrasion resistance, etc.

3. Chemical Safety Testing: Testing for migratable heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, antimony, etc.), phthalate plasticizers, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), specific aromatic amines, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), formaldehyde release, and fluorescent whitening agents.

4. Material Composition Analysis: Qualitative identification of plastic materials (e.g., PP, ABS, PMMA), composition and thickness of metal plating, lens material analysis, and adhesive composition screening.

5. Sealing and Barrier Performance Testing: Test case sealing (leakage prevention), lens-to-case sealing, and overall moisture resistance (for moisture-sensitive powders).

6. Microbiological Indicators Testing: Total bacterial count, total mold and yeast count, thermotolerant coliforms, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, etc.

7. Functional Testing: Lens image clarity and distortion, magnetic switch force and retention force, powder compact grid stability, and powder dispensing ease simulation test.

8. Environmental reliability testing: high temperature and high humidity stability, low temperature tolerance, temperature cycling test, light aging test (ultraviolet, xenon lamp), etc.
